Which judicial district serves Clark County
Under NRS 3.010, Nevada is divided into 11 judicial districts, and Clark County belongs to the Eighth Judicial District. Clark County is the only county in this district. For how the districts fit together statewide, see our map of Nevada's judicial districts.
The size of the district's bench is set by statute as well: the Eighth Judicial District has 58 judges under NRS 3.018 and NRS 3.0185 — 32 district judges plus 26 family court judges. Under NRS 3.100, district courts hold court at the county seat of each of their counties — for Clark County, court is held at the county seat, Las Vegas.
Clark County's bench is by far Nevada's largest: more district judges sit in the Eighth Judicial District than in all of the state's other judicial districts combined, including a large dedicated family division. It is also the only Nevada county with two dedicated court self-help centers — one for family law and one for civil matters — in addition to a county law library, all linked below.
District court
The district court is Nevada's main trial court — the level that handles felonies, family matters, probate, and larger civil cases. The Eighth Judicial District Court serves Clark County, whose county seat is Las Vegas.
Justice courts
Justice courts are township-level courts that handle smaller civil claims, small claims, evictions, and misdemeanors. Clark County has multiple township justice courts, including Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder, Bunkerville, Goodsprings, Laughlin, Mesquite, Moapa, Moapa Valley, and Searchlight townships.
