Which judicial district serves Douglas County
Under NRS 3.010, Nevada is divided into 11 judicial districts, and Douglas County belongs to the Ninth Judicial District. Douglas County is the only county in this district. For how the districts fit together statewide, see our map of Nevada's judicial districts.
The size of the district's bench is set by statute as well: the Ninth Judicial District has two district judges under NRS 3.019 . Under NRS 3.100, district courts hold court at the county seat of each of their counties — for Douglas County, court is held at the county seat, Minden.
Douglas County forms its own judicial district and, unusually for rural Nevada, its courts publish standalone websites — the district court and both township justice courts each run their own site rather than a page on the county portal. The two justice courts divide the county by township, with East Fork sitting in Minden and Tahoe Justice Court sitting in Stateline at Lake Tahoe.
District court
The district court is Nevada's main trial court — the level that handles felonies, family matters, probate, and larger civil cases. The Ninth Judicial District Court serves Douglas County, whose county seat is Minden.
Justice courts
Justice courts are township-level courts that handle smaller civil claims, small claims, evictions, and misdemeanors. Douglas County has two township justice courts: East Fork Justice Court (Minden) and Tahoe Justice Court (Stateline).
