Which judicial district serves Lyon County
Under NRS 3.010, Nevada is divided into 11 judicial districts, and Lyon County belongs to the Third Judicial District. Lyon County is the only county in this district. For how the districts fit together statewide, see our map of Nevada's judicial districts.
The size of the district's bench is set by statute as well: the Third Judicial District has two district judges under NRS 3.013 . Under NRS 3.100, district courts hold court at the county seat of each of their counties — for Lyon County, court is held at the county seat, Yerington.
Lyon County alone makes up its judicial district, with two district judges holding court in Yerington. Its justice courts follow the county's population centers — Canal Township in Fernley, Dayton Township, and Walker River Township in Yerington — and the county gathers all of them on a single courts page rather than separate sites.
District court
The district court is Nevada's main trial court — the level that handles felonies, family matters, probate, and larger civil cases. The Third Judicial District Court serves Lyon County, whose county seat is Yerington.
Justice courts
