Which judicial district serves Eureka County
Under NRS 3.010, Nevada is divided into 11 judicial districts, and Eureka County belongs to the Seventh Judicial District. The same district also covers Lincoln County and White Pine County . For how the districts fit together statewide, see our map of Nevada's judicial districts.
The size of the district's bench is set by statute as well: the Seventh Judicial District has two district judges under NRS 3.017 . Under NRS 3.100, district courts hold court at the county seat of each of their counties — for Eureka County, court is held at the county seat, Eureka ; the same judges also hold court in Ely for White Pine County and in Pioche for Lincoln County matters .
Eureka County belongs to a three-county judicial district spanning east-central Nevada, sharing two district judges with White Pine and Lincoln counties. Its justice court is distinctive in operating a second department in Beowawe in addition to its main location in Eureka, the county seat.
District court
The district court is Nevada's main trial court — the level that handles felonies, family matters, probate, and larger civil cases. The Seventh Judicial District Court serves Eureka County, whose county seat is Eureka.
Justice court
Justice courts are township-level courts that handle smaller civil claims, small claims, evictions, and misdemeanors. Eureka County is served by the Eureka Township Justice Court, which sits in Eureka and in a Beowawe department.
